Learn AFL from AMi guru

I have a laptop, or a mobile phone, and I don't know how to use! What a shame!! We use Amibroker, love amibroker but, how much this great tool`s potentiality we are using? Most of the users just generate charts, and are satisfied. If we want to beat my fellow traders, defeat the crowd there is no alternative to deep knowledge. Stock market is evolving day by day, it is growing every moments. More time goes, more the conscious traders are becoming aware about the trading system. Here comes the name of Amibroker! And Amibroker`s heart is it`s AFL, amibroker formula language. But unfortunately this subject lacks free tutorial in the net. How much you do googling, you will be disappointed. Then solution? Howard Bandy. He has written two excellent books on Amibroker. 1. Introduction to Amibroker and 2. Quantitative Trading System. One Should start with the first one. This is the book  you need if you are looking for a step-by-step introduction to  AmiBroker. This book is for;  Some

Fibonacci Bollinger Bands in new light

Fibonacci Bollinger Bands indicator is a very nice, trustworthy and easy to grasp indicator. (The afl is available on various website, with the candle bar. As for me western bar gives more clear result I`ve channged the code with little effort. I will post Chart and AFL later) Fibonacci Bollinger Band is based on the same principles as the standard Bollinger Bands indicator. The upper and lower bands of Fibonacci Bollinger Bands indicator depends on volatility just like the Bollinger Bands indicator does. There is a difference though, in standard B bands standard deviation is used as the measure of volatility. In Fibonacci B Bands Wilders Smoothed ATR is used.

Why I dont see the chart? Answer : Re-locate the database

Sometimes users of Amibroker, the most user friendly technical analysis software, create new database. Next time the user starts Amibroker, it loads with the new database. So blank chart hits the screen. Because most of the time, and most of the users, don't upload csv files in just first session. So how to get back to the previous, csv loaded, `default' database? Follow this simple steps:

Foundation AFL, MRQ13 of Bangladesh, and New version from HULK

It started 27 July 2010 with this message on traderji : `Hello, Soon The Foundation v14.00 will be launch by me with some changes and additional VAS. Till now “G.Index” was mystery in Chart, now it has been resolve, Few parameters like Volume, Stock, ATR etc.. got tighter for better result.  Add K-Band demanded by some users at here. So are you ready for NEW version?' The post was from HULK. From then Amibroker Fans, including me, are waiting for the release. Almost everyday, there is new request from the forum members. Last week MR HULK gave

Ami AFL for Dummies : Change the shapes

In amibroker, the most popular technical analysis software, there are hundreds of charts. They use arrows and other shapes to show buy/sell or other signals. And some of them are very fascinating. But did you ever think that even you can change them very easily, without knowing afl? I had a thought from the very beginning. as tweaking the shapes sometimes help expressing the chart better. Here is the trick. Open the afl coed in formula. Find the PlotShapes syntax. Change the shape constant as you wish. Save. Instantly, the shape will change in chart. There are lot of constants to use. They come bellow the picture shot, i`ve taken from Amibroker. First see it. There are lot of constants to use. They are : shapeNone, shapeUpArrow, shapeDownArrow, shapeHollowUpArrow, shapeHollowDownArrow, shapeSmallUpTriangle, shapeSmallDownTriangle, shapeHollowSmallUpTriangle, shapeHollowSmallDownTriangle, shapeUpTriangle, shapeDownTriangle, shapeHollowUpTriangle, shapeHollowDownTriangle, shapeS

How to Import CSV data into amibroker

Tips : A Step by StepsText guide, A pictorial guide and a video guide has been attached with the post. To see right now go to last part of the post, clicking more.   Now post : After database creation, importing CSV data is the 2nd major job Amibroker requires. But for new users of Amibroker, a trading system software, its not always an easy job. In Bangladesh most of the TA followers import data through Profita, as its more easier. Stockbangladesh.com gives csv data more faster, just after the market closes at 3pm, but it lacks sector data in csv files.  So its better wait one hour, update Profita after 4PM, and import csv file to amibroker. But how? See the graph bellow. Its very easy.  Just have a glance. It`s `Jalabat Taralang'. Steps to follow : Profita1: in Profita Click `Tools', then click `Export data to Amibroker' P2: previous click opened Date selection option P3: select your date. Selection of more than one day is possible. If you do it everyday, m

4 Tips for using Midas in KPL, Code added

ATTENTION : KPL-Midas Code is at the last part of this post. Please copy and paste in your amibroker.) 4 Tips for using Midas in KPL: 1. put your price mark at the beginning of last major price break, bullish or bearish. 2. Right click on price chart, and open Peremeters 3. Change the settings of VWAP channel and ovserve in chart, whether it can create strong support /ressitance level. or not. 4. If you are satisfied with the setting, click OK. (of course, at the same time you can change the KPLs perimeter.) KPL Swing is a simple trend following mechanical trading system. It automates the entry and exit signal. This trading system is very simple and easy to use. It works across multiple time frames and does not require any in-depth knowledge of TA. In KPL System no targets are given as no one knows how high (or low) the stock price will reach. A trailing stoploss locks in the gains and removes emotions from trading. The MIDAS system of technical market analysis is based

Organize AFLs of Amibroker

In my Ami I`ve dozens of AFL, renamed with my nickname before. They were all scattered in folders like Custom, Drag and Drop, and others. Last week i just searched and found them all. Then copied them, And placed in a new folder created after my name in the Formula Folder. Now I can easily test and retest all my favorite afl. Liked the tip? Make a try. It`s a real time saving tip! Follow the steps given bellow : \ 1. Click Right mouse button on any Chart 2. Click `Edit Formula'. It will open the formula Editor. 3. Find the AFL name. Its written on top-most bar of Formula Editor. If you have edited the Afl, its likely that a new afl has been created automatically in the Custom Folder, in Formula folder. 4. Minimize Amibroker. 5. With windows explorer go to the Amibroker (probably in C drive) Folder. Locate your afl file, for example, in custom folder. 6. Before the name of AFL, type your name. Get out. Go to Amibroker Again. 7. From `View' menu click `Refresh All' 8. Go

Another Trading System to follow stcok price successfully

Technical Analysts regard it as RESISTANCE line. At other side there is another line. They say it`s SUPPORT line. When I visualize these lines they seem to me more lively elements. Resistance line is nothing but a visual emotion of people who are taking profit from their stocks, or people who are cutting their loss, to enter a safe zone. Similarly, support line is just a graphical view of emotion, expressed by large number of investors, who are buying a promising stock. These emotions, either from buyer of sellers, have a force, and it move the stock`s price. Experienced traders can identify these movements momentum, only if they are alert enough.  Most of the time, I think, they might miss the chance. So who is the safeguard? Answer is : the Trading System of technical analysis. Below is a graph of a script, generated by Amibroker, a very powerful Technical Analysis software. With the help of some mathmatical formulas it has generated a nice charts, where Resistance line, Support line

creating database in trading software Amiborker

After Amibroker is installed, the first and foremost duty is creating a database. For novice, sometimes this seems somewhat hard. With just a diagram i`ve showed how to create a EOD (End of day) database. Here its just five steps. \

Modified AFL for Fibonacci Trading

With this post I would like to offer a modified Fibonacci AFL (download link available @ comment area, just below of this post). But first of all some thoughts on Fibonacci. Each person has personal tolerance level for risk and also has a level of greed. In losing trade we close the trade and stop the pain. This is our risk/pain tolerance point. Similarly, in a winning trade, at a point our profit seems in such a level that we become worried, and lock in our profits. This is our greed tolerance level. This level very from person to person. Meanwhile a chart using modified Fibonacci AFL: If we take a crowd of traders, say 50,000, we can say that they have a risk/greed tolerance value. Same technique can be applied for a different group of 50,000 traders. It means every group of traders have an average risk/greed tolerance value. As most traders are human, we can say that average risk/greed tolerance level for any large group would be more or less same. Thus short-term traders, and long-t

See Fibonacci magic in Dhaka Stock Exchanges

Fibonacci trading is a mysterious thing to novice TA followers. But all over the world experieced and professional traders have been using these retracements for years to help identify price sup-port and resistance. For months I have observe that it is very much effective in Dhaka Stock Exchanges (DSE) stocks. But as TA is not practiced here widely, nobody talk about Magic of Fibonacci. Today i just randomly selected three of my favorite stocks and Fibonacci proved again its magic. Formula is not so complex. Major trend has two points : 100 and 0 and here its two dashed lines at top and bottom. At middle are fibonacci points lines. They are generally, 0.382; 0.5; 0.618; 0.786; 1.618; 2.618. In Ranfoundry we can see how price misteriusly went up and down in line with the fibonacci points. Pictures follows: (Agni, Aims, Alhaj and Altex)

KPL Swing trading system

When Stock`s Price increases everyday, the stock holder becomes worried. Of course he should be worried, and before the scripts start falling he should lock his profit. But who knows when it would start falling? Nobody (but smart money sometimes knows). So we need indicators like RSI, OBV, or stochastic. The problem is, even with weak RSI, OVB, or horizontally straight stochastic a script may go up further. So taking profit in fear of falling some times becomes cause of pain, or less profit. So I would prefer a system like KPL swing to give me an exit signal first. Then I would exit. I would wait and see how much a bullish share can grow. See the Graph of Squiretextile, (data uptodated) Tips :  1. At very bottom is main chart (KPL with, adx) to follow, two others are supporting. 2. Thursday the stock opend bellow its previus day`s closing, but closed above it. Which indicates weekness. 3. Yet there is no fall signal (down arrow) and no ADX (price bar in deep green) appeared. So I would

Follow your Stock Price Just with Two charts

When market is unstable take profit from a stock within short time. In volatile, unstable, falling or bearish market you have to take quick decision. Have to enter quickly. Have to take profit quickly. Here I am showing two simple charts, when united it works for me as an excellent Trading System. To entry: 1. Wait for the price bar (upper chart) and see when it touches the lower curve, but dont enter. 2. If next day the histogram bar (lower chart) is bigger then the prevoius days bar, enter. If not bigger, or has same size dont enter. To exit : 1. Wait for the price bar (upper chart) and see when it touches the upper curve, but dont exit. 2. If next day the histogram bar (lower chart) is smaller then the previous days bar, exit. If not smaller, or has same size dont enter. Used chart : Bextex (latest data 4 August 2010)

Trading System : Using KPL with MIDAS curve

Firsly, the KPL Swing is a simple trend following mechanical trading system. Secondly, the the MIDAS System. The MIDAS system of technical market analysis is based on the concept of Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP). VWAP calculations is being used widely worldwide. A standard VWAP calculation represents the total value of shares traded in a particular stock on a particula  day divided by the total volume of shares traded in that stock on that day. Here i`m giving a chart using bothe KPL and MIDAS (three lines) curves. As example, BERGER symbol (data updated at 4 Aug, 2010) has been used. In chart its visible that both KPL

Build a trading System with two charts

Stock Price taming is not very hard, rather it is easy if you follow a trading system. Here i`m giving two charts that we can use regularly as trading system. One for identifying the oversold, other for tracking buy-sell signals. Top one has a red line. If stock price touches the line, it`s a dangerous moment. Most likely the stock price will fall. Mos Bottom line of the upper chart is overbought line and it is a safe line. Whenever price touches is chances are that price will jump soon. Here FINEFOOD is resting in danger line and falling might be imminent. Now the bottom chart. It uses many formulas and result are shown at left. Here we can see that for FINEFOOD it is giving signal that : MFI and TRIX waiting strong sell signal. Also the rsi is giving sell signal.  See the image

How much the price will go?

IAfter taking a position all investors, particularly the new ones, are pushed to think `now how far the price will go?' And the question pops up so frequent that in a forum (bollinger) once I could not control  myself and wen into action (as i`m an admin). With this post I giving codes of an AFL, collected from Net, that will help investors in finding the answer, `how far my stock price will go.' _SECTION_BEGIN("MOB simulation shiree"); SetChartOptions(0,chartShowArrows|chartShowDates); _N(Title = StrFormat("{{NAME}} - {{INTERVAL}} {{DATE}} Open %g, Hi %g, Lo %g, Close %g (%.1f%%) {{VALUES}}", O, H, L, C, SelectedValue( ROC( C, 1 ) ) )); //Plot( C, "Close", ParamColor("Color", colorPink ), styleNoTitle | ParamStyle("Style") | GetPriceStyle() ); PlotOHLC(O,H,L,C,"Price",IIf(C>O,colorWhite, colorRed),styleCandle); //Date: 12-January 2002 by Thomas Zmuck //thomas.zm@ aon.at Offset = 5; //use two sheets: one with 5 and a

Locate missing date of Amibroker database

For EOD (end of day) data in amibroker we have to upload daily csv data. As its a daily routine job, sometimes I become confused `did I miss any date?' To get the answer we can take Amibroker`s  help. Click View. Click `pad non-trading day'. You will see that in chart there are some `dotted' days. Missing date, even the weekends, will show hyphen (-) in chart. Put the cursor over, the date will pop up. But you have to find out, whether the missed out date was a holiday, or you just missed data uploading. Here is chart of Dhaka Stock Exchange (dse). Missing dates have been marked. Amibroker AFLs Hidden Tips

New Amibroker users dont know that within AFL they can get valuable information. Some code writer gives the first tips or guidelines within code in Text format. Even we can get contact details of the writer for further help. So amibroker users should open their favorite AFLs to check whether the AFL has any tip within or not. It will enrich their knowledge. Of course, most of the writers just give a short guideline, and some even don't give anything. Opening an AFL is very simple. Click Write Muse Button. It will open a dialogue box. Find Edit Formula and click on it. After having a look, just close the Formula Editor. One example : if we open the AFL of Turtle trading system we get these information: Author/Uploader: DrZingaro E-mail:          drzingaro@gmail.com...    Strengths: volatility-based. Weaknesses: lag and since volatility increases at the end of a trend, traders exits early. Description: Indicator is used to keep track of a trade. Indicator shows a orange circle where
